True Life

True Life airs on MTV. They don’t have a specific day and time so check your local listing.

I once was a huge fan of MTV, until thy stopped airing music videos and all shows became like “The Real World”.  Thank goodness that MTV decided to keep producing the one good show they have left;  Emmy Award Winning True Life. The first episode aired in 1998 and I’ve been watching ever since. It’s a dockumentary show that allows young people share their most intimate moments. The cameras follow them around and capture the good, the bad and the ugly. They tell us their stories in their own words and it’s very raw and real. They cover all types of stories from soliders coming home from war, getting a divorce, sex, embarrassing parents, dealing with substance abuse, homelessness, gambling problems, sickness and on and on. With episodes airing since 1998 there are hundreds of hours of really good reality television. To see the trials and tribulations of young men and women watch True Life.

E.T.

I love, love, love the lyrics to E.T.  Katy Perry found a different way to express falling in love. Not the same old tired lyrics. Then I saw the video and I approved. The video is like the song different and dark in a sexy way. That is why I go to you tube at least once a day to watch the video. To see that love comes in all forms, check out ET.

Warehouse 13

Warehouse 13 returns July 11 on the Syfy Channel Monday’s 9pm est. time. Check your local listings for reruns or go to the website and take the next couple of weeks to catch up before the new season begins.

Warehouse 13 is a Science Fiction show about two Secret Service agents played by Eddie Mc Clintocke (Pete) and Joanne Kelly (Myka). Pete and Myka travel the world finding lost artifacts or new artifacts that possess supernatural powers. My favorite part of the show is the artifacts. It’s as if they a character all on their own. They are capable of doing all types of bizarre and intriguing things. The artifacts are stored in super top secret government warehouse. The man in charge of the warehouse is played by Saul Rubinke (Artie). The storylines are unique and keep you guessing until the end. Many funny moments as well as tenured moments. Every week they save the world and we all continue to live a clueless existence. Ah how I love Sci Fi. To be transported to world unknown check out Warehouse 13.

Funny Commercials

I’m in love with my DVR. I would rather have a DVR than a cell phone. Most of everything I watch is on the DVR, therefore I do not get a chance to see many commercials. However I do also watch regular TV and I must say I’m impressed with how many funny commercials exist. Below are commercials that I don't get tired of watching.

Jerseylicious

Jerseylicious airs on My Style Sunday 8pm est. time. Check your local listings as they often air repeats. It’s a show about beauticians and makeup artist that work in New Jersey. All the drama that is typical of reality shows happens on this show.

Jerseylicious is not part of my show regiments. My niece is a faithful fan. I am not. I was channel surfing a few weeks ago and came across the last episode for the second season. One of the girl’s potential boyfriend was cute; I decided to watch to see how the relationship was going to evolve. It was unclear when the episode finished so I decided to DVR the reunion show. The reunion show brought me up to speed on the past seasons but never mentioned if they were a couple. So I decided to DVR the first episode of the new season. Again just wanted to see if it worked out, it didn’t, so I am moving on. This show was sort of a guilty pleasure viewing. I couldn’t believe how ridiculous and lame these people are. How can people act like they do?  I do applaud them for being themselves. It’s takes balls to go out looking like them and allowing the world to see how disrespectful, unprofessional and childish they are. My niece will undoubtedly update me without me asking. This show is a huge hit for My Style Channel. If you want to see what  New Jersey’s “best” beauticians and makeup artist have to offer watch Jerseylicious.

I Survived

I Survived airs on the Bio Channel Sunday’s 9pm est. time. Check your local listings as they often air repeats.

It’s a show about ordinary everyday people surviving unimaginable events, which will change their lives forever. These unfortunate people were kidnapped, raped, viciously attacked, stabbed, shot, car jacked, attacked by animals and more. Also people that survived the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. Like many of my non fiction crime shows, I become paranoid and afraid while and after watching this show. However the stories are hypnotizing. The survivors tell their stories and hearing what happened to them from their own mouth is chilling. They’re brave and strong. Their will to live won. To see how to prepare for the worst, whether from the hands of a human, animal or Mother Nature watch I Survived.

Fraggle Rock

Fraggle Rock airs on the Hub Channel weekdays at 8:30 am est. time. Check your local listing.

Fraggle Rock is a children’s puppet show created by the legendary Jim Henson. The Fraggles live in caves with a hole in one of them that let's to escape to the real world sometimes. Their 18 inches in height and come in all colors. The all have different personalities. They are adventurous, innocent and curious about everything. Just like the Muppets everyone has their favorite Fraggle, mine was Red. She is adorable and fun loving. Fraggle Rock aired from 1983 to 1987 on HBO. I used to love to watch it as a kid. Growing up not everyone could afford HBO, so I felt like I was one of the lucky kids that got to experience such a great show. You can learn a lot from watching them. Each episode dealt with real life issues and how to overcome them. Not only was the show a hit, so was the theme song. I was over the moon when I found out that Hub was going to air Fraggle Rock. It was nostalgic seeing the puppets after over twenty years of absence. Fraggle Rock is definitely worth watching no matter what age you are.

Adele

Adele is my newest music obsession. I first heard her song “Rolling in the Deep” sung by a contestant on the singing competition “The Voice”.  I went to YouTube to see who sang the song and was immediately hooked.  I’ve not been able to stop listening to that song. Of course I began to listen to her other songs and they are just as addicting. Her songs are a mix of soul, rock and pop.

Adele is a twenty three year old cutie from London. She is an original singer-songwriter and has already won two Grammy Awards. “Rolling in the Deep” is from her second album. Her first album is called 19 and her second album is called 21. The titles of her album's are the age she was when she recorded them. I adore her style and can’t get enough. To listen to some refreshing music that speaks to your soul check out Adele.

What Not to Wear

What Not to Wear airs on TLC Tuesday 9pm est. time. Check your local listings as they often air repeats.

The hosts of What Not to Wear are the fashion experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. They give unsuspecting women a makeover. These women are frumpy, stuck in certain year, slutty, dress like children and on and on. The catch is that they have to fly to NY and give up their whole wardrobe in exchange for a $5,000 Visa card to go shopping. Stacy and Clinton give excellent makeovers and are great in helping these women overcome whatever it was holding them back from being fabulous. Once the participant goes shopping they get a haircut from Ted Gibson and makeup from Carmindy. At the end of the show they go and reveal themselves to families and friends.

The only problem I have with this show is I don’t believe everyone should look the same. That would make for a boring world. People express themselves with their clothes and hair and just because it’s not what is considered normal doesn’t mean it’s not okay to wear. I enjoy watching because the makeovers are not only external but also internal. I also get lots of fashion ideas. To nominate someone you know or to give yourself a makeover watch What Not to Wear.

America's Most Wanted

America’s Most Wanted airs on Saturday 9pm est. time.

Unfortunately I found out today that after 23 years AMW was canceled. The last episode will air on June 18, 2011. They will return every three months for a two hour special. This has made me sad as I am a HUGE fan.  I’ve been watching AMW since it began to air in 1988. I remember when I was 13 years old and thought that my wood shop teacher was featured on AMW. Some of my classmates watched the episode and thought the same thing. It was like a comedy skit, us trying to figure out if we should turn him in or not. At that time they did not have the internet and we could not verify if it was him or not. We determined it was not him.

This is a show that really does make a difference. It allows the public to help law enforcements catch the bad guys. Also the heat of being featured on AMW sometimes leads the fugitive to turn themselves in. Every imaginable crime committed in the United States and International was featured. AMW viewers are responsible for capturing over 1,000 criminals. I’ve watched hundreds of hours of AMW and learned a lot.  I’m going to miss the weekly episodes but I will definitely DVR the specials. To help get the low lives off the streets or learn to beware of criminals watch AMW.

Awkward Family Photos

Awkward Family Photos is a website and its self explanatory. Two friends Mike and Doug decided to start this website after one of them saw an awkward photo of his family. It was a brilliant and original idea. That is the reason it became a hit. In addition to their website, they also have a book. According to their website they get submissions from around the world. I discovered this website a few weeks ago and check it at least once a week. The pictures are bizarre, weird, hilarious, and confusing. I love this website because everyone has  awkward family photos. It makes me laugh and many of the pictures leave me asking:

Why?
What the hell?
Who would do that?
How could they?

However I realize if I submitted a photo someone may have the same thoughts. Different strokes for different folks. I’m so glad I decided to check it out as it was quickly added to my “tickle my funny bone” list. To see if you’re in a picture or someone you know or just to smile check out AFP.

World's Deadliest Animals

World’s Deadliest Animals on National Geographic Sunday at 8:30pm est. time.

The stars of this show are bugs, insects, monkeys, squids, sharks and more. Nat Geo films in Asia, Asia Pacific, Costa Rica and the Amazon.and gives us front row view of  these beautiful stars fighting to the death. The shots are ingenious. It still amazes me how they can capture the battles. This show is captivating. I shriek every time I watch because of the violence animals commit against one another. I know they are just doing what is natural to them and the whole circle of life thing but it makes my heart beat fast every time. To watch creatures at their deadliest watch Word’s Deadliest Animals.

I (Almost) Got Away With It

I (Almost) Got Away With It airs on the Investigation Discovery Tuesday at 10pm est. time.

I (Almost) Got Away With It is a show about fugitives who believed they can escape the long arm of the law. These cold hearted bastards commit heinous crimes and then there too pussy to face the punishment. The fugitives tell their stories about life on the run and what they did to survive. The law enforcements tell their stories on how they caught them. They reenact the crime, the run and the capture. I have mixed emotions about this show. By using the real fugitives they get an opportunity to get their ugly mugs on television and I’m sure some of them are bragging about it. I don’t think they should have such a luxury. It’s as if their being glamourized. It also enrages me to see that relatives and friends helped them escape and stay on the run. How could they?  Some of them stay on the run for years with no conscious. I watch because I like to see the bastards get caught. Their freedom coming to an end is very entertaining. To watch low lives get chased and caught by dedicated officers watch I (Almost) Got Away With It.

Wipe Out

Wipe Out airs on Thursday 8pm est. time. Contestants try to complete absurd and created for humiliation obstacles all in the hopes of winning $50,000. Each round someone gets eliminated until there is a winner. The obstacle courses are fucking ludicrous. People get punched in the face, stomach, flipped on their asses and dropped in mud or dirty water. I would love to try the obstacle course just for the fun of it but not filmed for television. It looks like a lot of fun.  I love, love, love to laugh. Hard, tears rolling down my cheeks, stomach aches type of laugh. That is why I watch Wipe Out. The faces and reactions to the contestants are worth every minute. I DVR the show and have to pause because I am laughing so hard. Anyone that has the spunk to get on this show deserves the $50,000. To feed your soul a good laugh watch Wipe Out.

WWE Tough Enough

WWE Tough Enough airs on USA Monday’s 8pm est. time. Check your listing as they often air repeats.

WWE Tough Enough is hosted by one of my favorite wrestlers Stone Cold Steve Austin. Love his look and style. The coaches are fine ass Trish Stratus, cutie Booker T, and chubster Bill Demott. Tough Enough gives fourteen people the opportunity to win a WWE contract. The training is brutal and geared to weed out the weak. This show allows viewers to see that it takes a boat load of courage and strength to be a WWE Superstar. Some of these poor fools thought they were ready and they got their ass served to them. I’ve been a fan of wrestling since I was little girl and I love the chorography of the fights. I remember being three years old and watching Lucha Libre with my dad. Back the I thought it was real. Since then I have learned that wrestling is scripted but the abuse their bodies suffer is real. Putting on a high caliber show in a different city four to five times a week, year round, it’s not for the faint of heart. To see who will be survive the smack down watch Tough Enough.

Hawaii Five-0

Hawaii Five-0 airs on CBS Monday at 10pm est. time. I grew up watching the repeats of the original Hawaii Five-O with the dreamy Jack Lord. I would run to the television when I would hear the theme song. Now I watch the upgraded Hawaii Five-O with Scott Caan. He is the reason I decided to give this show a try. I love Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13 and the whole cast which Scott was a part of. Hawaii Five-O is a police drama set in the beautiful island of Hawaii. If you haven’t been there, you must. Save, get a part time, cut back costs, do whatever you need to visit this piece of heaven on earth. The show features exaggerated computer gadgets and not so original story lines.  As with all police dramas the crime is solved in twenty four hours. No waiting for drugs results or DNA results, nope they get instant results. I enjoy the melodramatics and the cast is attractive.  Alex O’Louglin, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park play detectives along side Scott. To watch fictional police drama set in a beautiful place with beautiful people watch Hawaii Five-O.

I Survived

I Survived airs on the Biography channel, new episodes begin Sunday May 15. Check your local listings for repeats.

Looking forward to the new episodes. This show is about people who come as close as to death as possible and survived. The survivors share their stories. They tell horrific tales of home invasions, rapes, kidnapping, shootings and beatings. Then there are the people who survived accidents in the ocean, desert, mountains, jungles and plane crashes. These people have had their worst nightmares become a reality. I’ve learned to always be aware of my surroundings and to be careful at all times, even when I’m home. This show scares the shit out of me. I become paranoid and afraid. However I can’t stop watching. I’ve been a fan since season one. If you can handle the evil and horrors that occurs in this world watch I Survived.

Parking Wars

Parking Wars air on A&E Saturday’s at 10pm est. time. They air repeats often.

This is a realty show that follows parking enforcers and parking authority office. I’m a supporter of public servants. After all they’re just doing their jobs. The abuse they receive for the low pay sometimes is not worth it. The people that get ticketed and booted on this show are fucking annoying. What has happened to personal responsibility? How dare you be so disrespectful? They know they owe the tickets, they know they haven’t paid them, they know they do not have insurance, they know they have a suspended registration, yet they want to yell and curse at the agents. So fucking stupid and ignorant. I hope some of these people see themselves on TV and get their shit together. The parking agents are colorful characters. I always root for them. To view public servants deal with the madness of their jobs watch Parking Wars.

Advanced Style

As I was checking out one of my weekly blog, I came across a blog called Advanced Style and was blown away. It was created by Ari Seth Cohen. He takes pictures of stylish mature adults while walking the streets of NYC. They’re the most prettiest and inspiring pictures I have seen. Every picture made me smile. These people have such style and grace. Their outfits are sophisticated, kooky, glamours and classy. I would rock some of them. The words of wisdom from his muses remind me to enjoy my life each and every day. Mature adults are often forgotten about and overlooked. That’s a shame because they have so much to teach us. I have always enjoyed the company of older people and love to see them looking chic. I love talking to them, learning from them and picking their brain. So this blog definitely pulled at my heart strings. To see that you don’t have to lose your cool style as you age check out Advanced Style.

Dresscue Me

Dresscue Me airs on Planet Green Tuesday at 10:00pm est. time.

This is a realty show that features Shareen Mitchell’s business of rescuing old clothes and giving them a new life. I love the idea of this show as we need more shops like this. Instead of continuing to create new clothes let’s make the best of what we already made. Also I’m a big fan of one of kinds. I hate going somewhere and everyone looks the same. Shareen creates great looks with what she finds. The problem I have with the show is the disorganization of her business. It’s a mess. I’m an organized freak and it bothers me to see clutter. Do not know how she can operate her business in such a mess. Also she treats her staff like crap. I think she is playing up to the cameras. I’ve only watched one episode and I’m definitely intrigued enough to continue to watch. If you’re a fan of fashion watch Dresscue Me.

Bert the Conqueror

Bert the Conqueror airs on the Travel Channel on Sundays at 8pm est. time.

Bert Kreischer is a comedienne who travels America conquerring the scariest amusement park rides to the unusual local entertainment.  He will compete in dangerous and entertaining competitions. I’m a bit of a thrill seeker so I definitely enjoy this show. It will give you the travel bug and make you want to experience the activities for yourself.  Bert is the perfect host for this show. He is funny, adorable and up for anything. The show let’s you see that there are still great places to visit right here in the Grand Ole USA.  Watch Bert the Conqueror and allow yourself to be a big kid again.
