It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia airs on FX. Check your local listing for repeats or watch online. New episodes air Thursday Sept 15 10pm est. time.

I am so super excited for the new season. This show is so fucking amusing. It’s about the life experiences of five friends who run a run down bar in Philly called Paddy’s. Dim witted Kung Fu failure Mac (Rob McElhenney). Brainless yet adorable Charlie (Charlie Day).  Self centered scheming twins Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Dennis (Glenn Howerton).  Their father is Frank played by the brilliant Danny Devito. Together they break the law, cheat, lie, steal and do anything they can to get ahead in life. This show is off the fucking charts. The gang is crude, rude, “politically incorrect” and awesome. I love the rudeness of this show and the laughing it induces. To watch a show that dares to be funny regardless of who it offends watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

MythBusters

MythBusters airs on the Discovery Channel. Check your local listing for time and date. New episodes coming in the fall.

The hosts of this show are cool mustache wearer Jamie Huneman and nerdy redhead Adam Savage. Co-hosting the madness is Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara. They found an interesting and funny way to debunk or prove myths. They deal with science and facts. Their ability to build complex things and destroy them in the name of science is fun to watch. This may be one of the many reasons why this show is a massive hit. To see if the myths you believed in may be true watch Mythbusters.

Cheaters

Cheaters airs on Real Realty TV. Check your local listing.

It seems as if this show has been on forever. It's a classic. They help people who suspect their significant other may be cheating find out the truth. They follow the cheating scoundrel and bug them and video tape them so they have concrete evidence. It’s so fucking grimy what some people do. They bring people to the home they share with their man or women and have sex. They cheat with family, friends and same sex. It rocks when they get caught and confronted by the cameras and their loved one. Cheaters will never learn. I never get tired of seeing the look on their face. Some beg and plead for forgiveness others don’t care and leave with the other. To watch selfish cheating bastards get caught watch Cheaters.

Picker Sisters

Picker Sisters airs on Lifetime on Tuesday 10pm est. time.

Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen are the Picker Sisters. They travel the United States finding junk they can turn into one of a kind furniture pieces for their store in Los Angeles. You wonder how are they going to make scrap metal and junk into something beautifully useful. Then they show you a computerized version of their vision. Which immediately has you thinking "yeah I could see that". They bring their goods back to their shop and their miracle worker Allen turns their vision into realty. The end result is almost always amazing. The show is adorable and the girls can be annoying at times. I've only watched two episodes but that was enough to add to my DVR. I'm always a fan of using old materials to make something new. If you want to see hot girls use the creative side of their brain watch Picker Sisters.

Karmin

Karmin is a chic and dude duo, who take the newest hot songs out and cover them in an unusually funky way. I came across this internet sensation via Perez Hilton’s website. Since then I go on YouTube every few weeks to find new music. Their ingenious way of reproducing some of the hottest songs out right now is brilliant. I don’t know much about them so I went to their website. According to their website Nick is the dude and he is experienced in Rock and Jazz. Amy is la chic and is influenced by R&B and Pop. They got together and made music magic. They're talent is hypnotizing. With so many artists trying to be the next this or that it's very refreshing to see originality. Above is some of my favorites.

Louie

Louie airs on FX Thursday 10:30 pm est

Louie is a comedy sitcom starring comedienne Louis C.K. This is the second season. Louie is a below average looking divorcee, father to two daughters living in NYC. The show switches back and forth between footage of his stand up act and the sitcom. The story lines are taken from his comedy routine. They consist of raising his daughters, dating, dealing with family and friends and work. It's not a show I DVR but if I'm channel surfing and see that it's on I will watch. It's not my type of humor however it's good for a few laughs. To see plain dry humor at its finest watch Louie.

Pawn Stars

Pawn Star

Pawn Stars airs on the History channel Monday's 10pm est.

Pawn Stars is a reality show about a pawn shop in Las Vegas. The owners of the shop are The Old Man and his son Rick. Rick's son Big Hoss and his best friend Chumlee also work at the shop. The breakout star is my fav Chumlee. He is not attractive but adorable. His child like behavior is comical therefore entertaining. My second favorite is The Old Man. For a 70+ year old man he got swagger and a mouth like the sailor he once was. He is always looking sharp. He doesn't give a fuck and will tell you exactly what he thinks. Rick is a walking encyclopedia. He is very knowledgeable and fair with the customers. Now my least fav is Big Hoss. He is annoying and has no sense of humor. He comes across as arrogant and Mr. Know It All. All four of them together make for good TV. All types of artifacts come through the door. You get to learn the history behind them and their worth. The shop is professional and organized. This show is educational and funny. To learn about all sorts of cool stuff watch Pawn Stars.

Unlikely Animal Friends

Unlikely Animal Friends
Unlikely Animal Friends on Nat Geo. Check your local listing.

I found this show while channel surfing and became an instant fan. To watch animals show affection and love to animals outside their species pulls at your heart strings. Unless your a cold hearted heathen. For reasons they only know these animals befriend each other despite their differences. A baby hippo with a tortoise, an orangutan with a hound dog, an elephant with a dog and others. They feed, groom and protect each other. If we could all get along like these animals the world would be a better place. They're cute and cuddly. To see that we can learn humanity from animals watch Unlikely Animal Friends.

Behind The Music

Behind The Music airs on VH1 Sunday’s 10pm est. time

After many years of hiatus VH1 resurrected Behind The Music. Woo Hoo!! This show is great. It features some of the best recording artist and as the name of the show you get the story behind the music. The artists in their own words share the stories of their lives and the trials and tribulations they experienced in an effort to break into the music industry. Family, friends and big wig music executives share their stories about the artist. That leaves no room for gossip or speculations. You get to see that all that glitter is not gold. Yes they're rich and live unbelievable lives but they work their asses off and deal with a ton of bullshit. If they don't produce good music and stay relevant the record companies toss them out with yesterday's trash. They can go from the high life to nothing. To see the true story behind some the greatest hits ever produced watch Behind The Music.

Hells Kitchen

Hells Kitchen airs on Fox Monday's at 8pm est. time

Hells Kitchen is a reality show starring Gordon Ramsey as he tortures all the while teaching these poor saps how to run a kitchen. Every season 18 new hopefuls come on the show hoping to win the coveted prize, which is becoming a head chef in an upscale restaurant. At the beginning the contestants are divided into two teams; man vs woman. They are given somewhat fair challenges in things they should know. The winning team receives prizes. Flying on private jets, dinner with Gordon, Vegas and a lot of other memorable prizes. The losing team has to clean up the mess left behind. Dinner service is the most entertaining part of the show. It's off the chain what they try to get away with. Gordon is on point and doesn't miss anything. Gordon cusses them out and calls them out of their name. I don't understand how some of them get upset, did they not watch the show before applying. Hello, it's called Hells Kitchen for goodness sake. It’s why the show is a success. At the end of each episode one chef is eliminated by handing over their chef jacket. This is season nine but I lost interest two seasons ago. However my husband still loves the show so I half ass watch it with him. To see people get humiliated all in the name of becoming a great chef watch Hells Kitchen.

Winnie the Pooh

This past weekend me and my good friend went to the movies to see Winnie the Pooh. She is also a cartoon lover. We both enjoyed it.  The story was about  Owl reading a note that Christopher Robin left incorrectly, causing Pooh and friends go on an adventure. It was very cute and funny. Much funnier than I expected. There is something about cartoons that is so comforting. I don't ever see myself not loving and appreciating cartoons. To be transported to Christopher Robins imagination go see Winnie the Pooh.

Roseanne's Nuts

Roseanne's Nuts airs on Lifetime on Wednesday 9pm. est. time.

Roseanne's Nuts is a reality show that follows Roseanne and her boyfriend in the gorgeous Hawaii. For those who don't know who Roseanne Barr is, she is a groundbreaking comedienne and actress. In the 90's she had a very popular and successful sitcom about a dysfunctional but loving family. The show was named Roseanne. As much as she is known for her show, she is notoriously known for her temper tantrums. After many years of living the Hollywood life she decided she had enough of the pretentious bullshit. Sight unseen she bought a nut farm in Hawaii and is trying to live off the land. Her children guest star on the star and is obvious they have inherited her humor. I've always loved Roseanne because she doesn't give a fuck about what people think. She does what she wants, when she wants and how she wants. She doesn't pretend to be someone she is not, just to fit into the Hollywood cesspool. In typical Roseanne style the show is loud, vulgar and funny. To see a TV star that is not full of shit watch Roseanne's Nuts.

Project Runway

Project Runway airs on Lifetime Thursday 9pm est. time.

Welcome back Heidi, Tim, Michael and Nina!!  I missed you. This is season 9 and I’ve watched since season 1. What I love about this show is that is all about talent. 20 contestants pack their bags and head to New York City in the hopes of having their dream of becoming a fashion designer become a reality. No bullshit alliances and backstabbing. They create the best garment they can and the judges decide who gets the Grand Prize. By the way the prize is life changing. $100,000 from L’Oreal to start their own line, a feature in Marie Claire magazine, $50,000 from HP and Intel to create their business vision and a chance to design and sell on Piperlime.com. Also the model that was paired with the winner will be featured with him/her in Marie Claire magazine and receives $25,000 from Loral. The judges are supermodel/ super mommy Heidi Klum. Fashion Director of Marie Claire magazine Nina Garcia. Superstar designer and powerhouse Michael Kors. Chief Creative Officer of Liz Claiborne, Tim Gunn mentors the “kids” throughout the competition. Their all brutally honest and keep the contestants on their toes. I enjoy seeing what is created from all sorts of unimaginable materials. It’s an exciting and emotional show.  To watch raw fashion designers watch Project Runway.

Alphas

Alphas airs on SyFy on Monday’s 10pm est. time.

Alphas is an original SyFY show. Its first episode aired on July 11. The commercial was enough for me to DVR the show. This weekend I watched three episodes and so far I’m enjoying it. The Alphas consist of two girls and three guys with extraordinary powers. Rachel (Azita Ghanizade) has the ability to enhance of her senses to the max; Nina (Laura Mennell) is able to make you do whatever she wants by staring into your eyes and using words; Bill (Malik Yoba) has superhuman strengths that come in burst and leave him drained; Cameron (Warren Christie) has superpower motor skills; Gary(Ryan Cartwright) has the ability to read all types of frequencies such as cell phones, television and radio.  Gary is my favorite so far. Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairm) is the Alphas supervisor and doctor. They work with a pain in the ass liaison for the Defense Criminal Investigation Service of the U.S. Department of Defense. Their powers allow them to solve crimes and track down other Alphas. The storylines is entertaining, the acting is convincing and the cast is good looking. That is always a plus. If you’re a fan of Sci-Fi and super heroes watch Alphas

Gangland

Gangland airs on the History Channel.  Check your local listings.

Gangland is a documentary show about all types of gangs from all over the United States.  Some are street gangs and others are biker gangs. They’re Hispanic, Black and White. These bastards rape, kill, sell drugs and commit any other despicable crime you can think of.  They interview existing and former members. The existing members are still under the spell of this mysterious and powerful brotherhood for life. It’s as if they are brain washed. The former gang members know the truth. There is no future in being in a gang. They all wish they could get that time of their life back. When they go to jail their “brothers” on the outside abandon them and some even kill members in their gang. This show proves that joining a gang is stupid and a waste of your life. The reenactments and interviews from real gang members make this show a hit. To learn how different types of gangs operate watch Gangland.

American Ninja Warrior

American Ninja Warrior airs on G4 Sunday at 9pm est. time.  New episodes begin Sunday July 31.

This is the American version of the original show called Ninja Warrior. This is a game show where you have to complete a grueling course. This year there is a prize of $500,000. According to the website only 3 out of 2,600 complete the course. The challenges are built for you to fail. Contestants climb, balance, swing, run, jump and try all sorts of crazy moves to complete the course. Being in perfect physical help is not enough. Very few make it past the first round. They end up busting their ass and falling into dirty water. Watching this show makes my heart race. It’s a constant roller coaster ride of emotions. To watch an obstacle course built from someone’s nightmare watch American Ninja Warrior.

Amy Winehouse

I was out of town this weekend and when I go out of town I don’t check the internet. So I didn’t find out until today that Amy Winehouse passed away yesterday. Fuck!!!  Feeling really fucking sad. Yeah, yeah, she had addiction problems that were played out in front of the world to see so to some it was no surprise. The fact that it was expected doesn’t ease the pain. You hope that she would overcome it and return to being the soulful singer we all loved. Her music was brilliant and her voice was memorizing. Unfortunately she was not to have the happy ending that we all deserve.

Wicked Attraction

Wicked Attraction airs on Investigation Discovery.  Check your local listing.

This show recounts the stories of two people who for love or other insane reasons decide to commit some of the most heinous crimes imaginable. These pitiful soulless people are fucking MAD, which is why I watch. The duos consist of lovers, friends, spouses, brothers and other relatives. They kidnap, murder, torture and rape innocent people with no remorse. The fact that not one of these two people talks each other out of the crime or contacts the police is baffling. You can feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Each new episode is better than the last. To watch two people please each other by hurting others watch Wicked Attractions.

Bad Teacher

Bad Teacher stars Cameron Diaz, Justine Timberlake and Jason Segel. Cameron plays the worst teacher ever. Her teaching skills are atrocious. She is selfish, lazy and mean. Jason is the gym teacher who is cool and funny. Justine is a millionaire dork. Cameron’s character chases after Justine’s character while Jason’s character chases after her. A predictable storyline with few laughs. It had the potential to be funnier. Actually I saw the movie last week and forgot to blog about it because it was forgettable. The trailer was funnier than the actual movie. If you watch see a movie that is a two out of four watch Bad Teacher.

Ice Loves Coco

Ice Loves Coco airs on E Sunday’s 10:30pm est. time.

It’s a realty show that follows gangster rapper turned great actor Ice T. and his lovely wife Coco. However the shows star is their adorable bulldog Spartacus. He is an aspiring actor with Coco as a stage mom. His even featured in the opening credits. All three of them are funny. I’ve been a fan of Ice T. since the beginning of his career. I didn’t think he was going to succeed as an actor. Boy was I wrong. Very happy for his success. His wife Coco is hottie. Too many couples try to change each other and men usually don’t want other men looking at their women. Ice shows off his wife and allows her to be herself. That is refreshing. Coco can hold herself down. She is a successful business women and on her way to becoming a mogul. They’re an inspiring couple. You can see the ins and outs of their life. The show seems very real; it doesn’t seem forced or scripted. I’m hoping they get signed for a second season. To see a non cookie cutter couple’s love story watch Ice Loves Coco.

The Best Thing I Never Had

Beyonce new album called 4 debuted this week. It went straight to number one. Congrats!!! I love Bey!! I’ve been a fan since the beginning in 97. She deserves all the success as she works her ass off. Her body of work is seducing both lyrically and visually. She is bad from head to toe.  I purchased the album today but have not been able to listen, running errands all day. I will listen once I finish with this post, I’m sure I will love it. I’m feeling “The best thing I never had” a whole lot right now. The great Babyface co-wrote the song. I’m a huge Babyface fan. So it made sense that the song is blazing. Either you love her or not, but credit needs to be given to her success story. Check out the video, you won’t be disappointed.

Mob Wives

Mob Wives airs on VH1. Check your local listing or watch episodes online.

Mob Wives season ended this week. This is a show that I have to watch as I’m married and need to compromise. My husband enjoys the show. I do not. These women are just like the rest of the women from bad but successful realty TV; Basketball wives, Love and Hip Hop, Bad Girls Club and Real Housewives of Bitchville. It’s disgusting how they can’t keep their shit together. They’re a fucking mess. Their phony, loud, some are ugly inside and out. There is too much fucking drama for grown ass women. Everything is an argument and the jealousy is ugly. I don’t like drama. My husband reminded me that I would act like some of them in certain situations which may be true but these heifers act the fool all the time. The saddest part about these shows is that they have children who witness the disaster in person and on TV. How will they turn out?  The egos on these women in astronomical. Yuck!! If your a fan of women overacting for cameras watch Mob Wives.

Ingenious Minds

Ingenious Minds is about Savants and Geniuses. Some of them are talented artist, creating beautiful pieces. Others are great musicians, never had a lesson but they create music that is brilliant. Then you have the calendar savants who can give you the day of any date you give them. I did not know how many different kind of savants exist. It doesn’t matter if their young, old, born with it, or received after an accident these people are hypnotizing. However Ingenious Minds allows us to see that the price they pay for their gift is terrifying. Their usually social outcasts and loners. They view life different that most of us. This show is spellbinding. To get an insight into some of the most brilliant people on earth watch Ingenious Minds.

The Looney Tunes Show

The Looney Tunes Show on The Cartoon Network Tuesday 8pm est. time.

Today was a lazy Saturday. Hubby had to work so I stayed in bed all day and was shocked to find out Looney Tunes has new episodes on the Cartoon Network. The other day I was trying to find Looney Tunes episodes on Netflix but they don’t have any online that I could find. What a coincidence that today I find the new episodes. Love the new episodes. The animation is outstanding. They’re modern, vibrant and funny. I enjoyed watching several hours today and smiled a lot. Even though they updated Bugs and the crew they integrated the classic catchphrases. Bugs and Daffy are roommates. Bugs girl is Lola and Daffy’s girl is Tina.  Thank you Cartoon Network for bringing back to life Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, Sylvester, Pepe Le Pew, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Speedy Gonzales, Porky Pig, Tasmanian Devil, Marvin the Martian and the rest of the Looney Tunes family. To introduce your offspring to good old fashion new cartoons or if you just looove cartoons like me watch Looney Tunes.

Rescue Me

Rescue Me airs on FX Wednesday 10pm est. time. The last season begins July 13.

This is show is raw, scandalize, shocking and fucking awesome. It’s about New York City fire fighters. The characters are beyond belief. The brilliantly disgusting Denis Leary is the leading character Tommy Gavin. He is married to the ever forgiving beautiful Janet (Andrea Roth) and they have several kids. His previous mistress is looney Sheila (Cakkue Thorne). This bitch is crazy. His best friend is chubster Lou (John Scurti) fellow fire fighter. The rest of the fire fighters are clueless Mike (Mile Selitti), dim witted Sean (Steve Pasquale), cool cat Black Shawn (Lorenzo Tate) and pretty boy Franco (Daniel Sunjata). Being a longtime fan of both Denis Leary and Lorenzo Tate and raised in NYC it aroused my curiosity. However I did not watch when the show began, my husband was a cheerleader for the show long before me. I finally gave in to his whining about me watching and bowed at his feet after watching my first episode. As in real life these characters work and personal lives are one big mess. The storylines are ugly and true. Some people don’t want to see that fire fighters are regular people who are not perfect. But they are normal. It will make you laugh, cry, shake your head and relate. To watch one of the most undeniably best shows on time watch Rescue Me.

Wilfred

Wilfred airs on FX Thursday at 10pm est. time.

Wilfred is a brand spanking new show which always peaks my interest, especially when it has an interesting actor like Elijah Wood. Elijah plays Ryan a lonely, bored, stuck in a rut young man. Jason Gann plays Wilfred who happens to be a dog. To get cool points with his pretty neighbor Jenna (Fiona Gubelmann) Ryan agrees to take care of Wilfred.  Ryan is the only one who sees Wilfred as a grown ass man in a dog suit. Wilfred is loose. He smokes weed, cigarettes, drinks beer and drops knowledge. Ryan is easily manipulated by Wilfred so agreeing to watch him may have not been a good choice. Now they have formed a bizarre friendship. It didn’t make me laugh a lot but produced enough laughs to continue to watch. It’s an original show and very entertaining. Look forward to see how this relationship works out. To watch a new show with a not so cute dog watch Wilfred.

The First 48: Missing Persons

The First 48: Missing Persons airs on A&E Thursday 10pm est. time.

This show is a spin off from The First 48. The Chicago’s missing persons unit allows us to see how they solve missing persons cases. The first 48 hours are the most crucial time for the investigation. These detectives work their asses off running around town knocking on doors, placing phone calls, driving around to see if they find the person. The dedication to be a detective is admirable. This show is captivating and scary. You get to see how some people chose to put their family through the pain of not knowing their whereabouts. All types of cases are profiled as according to the website they get 17,000 calls of missing persons. To see real detective work watch The First 48: Missing Persons.

Men from a Certain Age

Men from a Certain Age airs on TNT Wednesday 10pm est. time.

Men from a Certain Age is about three childhood friends going through midlife together. What makes this show stand apart from the rest is that it’s about men’s struggle with life. Very interesting to see the lives evolve, crash and burn and keep it moving.

Joe (Ray Romano) is divorced, awkward and geeky. He owns a party store and was addicted to gambling. Owen (Andre Braugher) is married with three kids who works for his daddy car dealership. Terry (Scott Bakula) is the actor still waiting for his big break. His a player and good at being unemployed. It’s a special chemistry between them. The supporting cast is as talented as the stars. This drama is greatly written and the acting is superb. Funny and touching moments are plentiful. I’ve been watching since season one and they still rocking. To see life through men’s eye watch Men from a Certain Age.

Unsung

Unsung airs on TV One Monday’s at 10pm est. time.

Unsung is a biography series about some of the greatest R&B, Soul and Gospel singers of the past few decades. Tammi Terrell, the Spinners, Angela Winbush, Miki Howard, Rose Royce, Freddie Jackson are just some of the talented singers profiled.  They never reached the pinnacle of success like their peers Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder and others. But never the less they made great contributions to music. For those still alive they tell their story in their own words from birth until now. Interviews from family, music producers and friends give an insight into the crazy life of singers. Watching this show took me back in time. I know most of the songs but was too young to know who the singers were. Now I can put a name and face to these wonderful songs. The trials and tribulations of being famous and rich is very seducing. It’s very sad to see the ups and downs of such a brutal business. It’s good to see many have made it out okay and keep going. To go back in time and reminisce watch Unsung.

Futurama

Futurama airs on Comedy Central Thursday 10pm est. time.

This show is the brainchild of Matt Groening. Matt is best known for creating a little known cartoon family called The Simpsons. This Thursday June 23, Futurama will begin the new season with back to back episodes. That deserves a Woo Hoo!!!  I love Futurama and have watched every episode. It’s so colorful both on screen and in language. The characters are buffoons who either you love or hate. Futurama stars Fry who mistakenly was transported to the New New York from 1999. Fry’s love interest and co-worker Leela. Leela is a cyclopsian (alien) and captain of the spaceship. Fry’s best friend is a fucked up sex fiend, liar and thief but mostly likeable robot Bender. They work at Planet Express, which is owned by Professor Farnsworth. Dr. Zoidberg is the fake ass doctor who looks like a lobster. Amy is the rich and sexual Chinese intern. Hermes is the paper pusher. Together these band of knuckleheads manage to get the job done and take you on an excellent adventure. It’s very amusing. To view the future through the eyes of great animation watch Futurama.

Braxton Family Values

Braxton Family Values season one ended last week, however you can catch repeats or check out the website.

This is one of my guilty pleasure shows. Just when I think there can’t be another celebrity realty show that I would watch and along came The Braxton’s.  I’ve been riding with Toni Braxton from the beginning of her career. I love raspy voices. So naturally I was intrigued to watch the show about her and her four sisters, mom and occasional visit from their one brother. To quote the baby sister, they are a hotmess.com. But what American family is not. They all share equal about of time in front of the camera, which is rare when only one is a superstar. Not anymore, they each are superstars in their own right.

  1. Toni is a worldwide superstar singer.
  2. Towanda is her assistant, backup dancer, backup singer, stylist, makeup artist
  3. Trina is funny and uninhibited. She likes to drink and have a good time.
  4. Traci is trying to get her second chance at being a singer with her sisters.
  5. Tamar is too much to handle, and not in a good way.
  6. Ms. Evelyn is these lovely ladies mommy and very normal (so far)
They all have different attitudes but the same style. It’s very interesting to see how their lives play out. As past history indicates celebrity realty TV can be a bad idea. I really hope they can escape the realty TV curse. So hold on to your wigs as WE TV has picked up the show for season two. To watch sisterly love and rivalry watch Braxton Family Values.

Jolene

On The Voice this week Vicci Martinez performed Jolene. The lyrics captivated me. I needed to know who sang the original and the story behind the song. I was shocked to find out this song was written and performed by the great Dolly Parton in 1973. It was one of those songs that I feel in love with instantly. There is such passion and desperation in the lyrics. Vicci is on Cee Lo’s team and he is a musical genius. Taking a chance with a huge classic song and Vicci pulled it off. She made it her own. However I like the original better. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Happily Divorced

Happily Divorced premiered on TV Land tonight; Wednesday 10:30pm est. time.

Happily Divorced is loosely based on Fran Drescher’s real life. On the show her husband (John Michael Higgins) of 18 years confesses his gay. Wowzer what a kick to the gut. They handle the situation with class and comedy. For financial reasons they remain living together and we get to see how that plays out. Fran’s best friend is the sitcom veteran Tichina Arnold (Judi). Her parents are played by Robert Walden (Glen) and the talented Rita Moreno (Dori). Valente Rodriguez plays Fran’s employee Caesar, he is better known as George Lopez’s best friend on the George Lopez Show.

Which such a great cast, no one person stands out yet. The show is filled with one liners and Fran looking into the camera after saying them. It definitely made me laugh but most of the jokes were predictable and Fran’s expressions were a bit annoying. I will continue to watch as I’m interested to see how the characters evolve. To watch two adults handle divorce in an adult comedic manner watch Happily Divorced.

Burn Notice

Burn Notice season five premieres nine days from today on USA Thursday June 23rd 9pm est. time.

I’ve been a fan since season one. Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) was a spy and after ten years of employment he was burned, the basis of the show is him obsessively trying to find out who burned him and why. In between and during his investigation he takes the time to help the everyday man/woman with their life problems. His crew consists of his kick ass girlfriend Fionna (Gabrielle Anwar); she is an expert with bombs and guns. Best friend Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell) is an ex Navy Seal and has a lot of informants. Relatively new to the crew is spy Jesse Porter (Coby Bell), because of Michael he was also burned and still not sure if he can trust him. Madeline (Sharon Gless) is Michael’s mom and surrogate mom to the crew. She is one of my favorite characters, she is a no nonsense mom who has been introduced to Michaels crazy world and down to help where she can. Sharon Gless played Cagney of Cagney and Lacey. For those youngins out there, this was a detective show in the 80’s staring two women. Which was huge for that time. It was an awesome show. Michaels’ brother is Nate (Seth Peterson) who is constantly needed his ass saved.

There all beautiful looking people and the setting is the sexy Miami. They rarely kill anyone but use a lot of explosives. The explosions are absurd. No one in the real world would ever get away with such antics. But that is the beauty of TV. The writing and acting does get better each season. Really excited for the new season. To watch Michael and his crew help those that police can not help and find out who burned him watch Burn Notice.

Etsy

Etsy is a website that allows people to sell and buy handmade products. I love this website. I grew up in New York City during the time of momma and poppa shops. Each shop was unique and offered different products from one another. Not like now and days where the America shopping experience has turned into franchise after franchise after franchise. Etsy is an online version of Momma and Poppa shops. Yes!! Etsy sellers sell everything from homemade clothes, shoes, journals, jewelry, artwork, photography, pottery, books, music and on and on. You can rest assure that your purchase will be one of kind. You can’t go these boring malls and buy these products.  I’ve bought two products from them and was very satisfied. To buy or sell exclusive goods check out Etsy.

Urban Legends

Urban Legends airs on SyFy Channel. Check your local listing.

The golf player that was eaten alive by an alligator, the man who received a heart transplant and began to get the same likes as the donor and even experienced the same manner of death, a horny drunk young man has a one night stand with an old woman and years later she leaves him one million dollars in her will, the lady mistakenly locked up in an asylum and any other ludicrous story you can think of is told in Urban Legends. Everyone has heard an Urban Legend. The person usually telling the tall tale knows someone who knows someone who knows someone that it happened to. It usually turns out to be bullshit. Now there is a show that reenacts the urban legends and has actors telling their unbelievable stories. Each episode showcases three urban legends and at the end of the show they tell you which one was real. In between segments they show mini legends and when they return from commercial tell you if it’s true or false. This show is cool and fun because it is interactive. My guesses are 50/50 so far. To watch stories that you may have believed for years to be true but there not or vice versa, view Urban Legends.

Ice Road Truckers

Ice Road Truckers airs on the History Channel Sunday’s 9pm est. time.

This is IRT’s sixth season and I've been watching since season four.  It’s a realty show that follows truck drivers in Alaska and Canada. What makes these drivers stand apart from your everyday truck drivers is that they drive on ice and snow that can lead to their death in a minute. The drivers on this show are berserk. You couldn’t pay me enough to ride shotgun let alone drive. I cringe every time I watch. The cameras shots are intense. They place cameras under the ice and you see the trucks driving over them. I continue to watch this show because of Lisa Kelly. She is the only female driver. By looking at her you will never guess she drives these huge trucks. Lisa is fantastic, inspirational and ballsy. She definitely can hang with the big boys. You never see her complain or act bratty; she gets the fucking job done. To see life threatening driving watch Ice Road Truckers.

Raising Hope

Raising Hope airs on Fox Tuesday 9pm est. time.

The cast consists of Jimmy Chance (Lucas Neff) as the young, clueless and naive father to baby Hope, the unstable and immature grandparents are Virginia (Martha Plimpton) and Burt (Garrett Dillahunt), the love interest of Jimmy, Sabrina (Shannon Woodard) then there’s the grandmother of Virginia, crazy Maw Maw the comedic legend (Cloris Leachman). Jimmy had a one night stand with a serial killer that produced baby Hope. Hope’s mommy was executed and now Jimmy with the help of his parents is Raising Hope. A co-worker was talking about this show and convinced me to watch. I must thank him. This show is unorthodox and hilarious. The writing is top notch and the plots are inconceivable. The Chance family is poor and it’s as if they're stuck in the 70’s. It’s also a great reminder that there is no such thing as a perfect family, having a loving family is a blessing. No matter how “crazy” they are. To see the high jinks of parenting watch Raising Hope.

Please Fire Me

Tomorrow is the dreadful Monday and the majority of people are not looking forward to going to work. I’m sure they wish they could quit, punch their boss out, curse out that annoying co-worker but they can’t. Fear no more, Adam Chromy and Jill Morris to the rescue. They created Please Fire Me, a website where people can anonymously post why they loathe their job. Unless you’re rich you can not leave these crappy jobs, so this website is an excellent way to vent. I found this website after reading an article written in the NY Daily News about the book version of the website. It peaked my curiosity and laughed my ass off after checking out the website. PFM confirms what I have known all along, all companies have douche bags, clowns, idiots and dummies. To see that you are not alone in putting up with a shitty job check out Please Fire Me.

Locked Up Abroad

Locked Up Abroad airs on National Geographic Wednesday 10 pm est. time.

The title is self explanatory; it’s about people getting locked up abroad. These poor saps tried to smuggle drugs and bars of gold in and out of foreign countries. Well we all know how that turns out. They get caught and sent to uninhabitable prisons all over the world. I don’t want to spend anytime in prison let alone one in a foreign country. American prisons are resorts compared to other countries. The foods have roaches in them, no beds, blankets, heat, privacy, communication, rats and everything else unimaginable. The humiliation they suffer for their mistakes hopefully will deter them from ever doing something so foolish. They reconstruct the crime with actors and its pulse racing. It’s so frightening to think these people went through all of that. They all have different reasons as to why they committed the crimes and the bottom line is money.  They all admit that it was a bad idea. Some knew it the moment they decided to do it but did not look back. They went ahead and walked into the dark side. Locked Up Abroad also tells the tales of people who have been kidnapped aboard. Their story is as just as horrifying. At the end of the episode you find out if they have been released or are telling you their story from a prison cell. Another great show from Nat Geo. To see how they punish in other countries watch Locked Up Abroad.

Son of Gun

Son of a Gun airs on MTV. Check your local listings or go to MTV to see episodes.

Son of a Gun is about rapper Cory Gunz. He is signed to Young Cash Money, which is also Lil Wayne’s label. Cory Gunz’s father is Peter Gunz who had a hit in the 90’s. Son of Gun is a six part realty show produced and staring Nick Cannon. Nick is interested in managing and helping Cory maneuver through and grow in the Hip Hop business. The cameras follow Cory, Peter and Nick. I was interested in seeing the show for several reason; he is from the Bronx (so am I), I was a fan of Peter Gunz hit (uptown baby, we get down for the crown baby) and there is something about Cory that intrigued me after hearing him on Lil Wayne’s  fire song 6 foot 7 foot and seeing the video. After watching this show I’ve become a bona fide fan of Cory Gunz. He is well mannered, soft spoken and real. He did not come across as trying to be hard. He is mirror of his father. Peter Gunz has done an excellent job with his son and with himself. He acts like an adult and still be able to be a part of the Hip Hop world. Not like some other rappers who still act like their in the teens. Yuck. You can get your sexy and grown on and still rep Rap. To see the ups and downs of becoming the next “it” in Rap watch Son of a Gun.

America's Got Talent

America’s Got Talent airs on NBC Tuesday 8pm est. time.

Season six of America’s Got Talent has arrived, yeah baby. This show is brilliant. The host is Nick Cannon. He is funny and sincere with the contestants. The judges are the strong and beautiful Sharon Osborne, the germaphobic Howie Mandel and semi boring Piers Morgan. Sharon and Howie are my favorite judges. Sharon is a hoot. The contestants get a chance to win a million dollars and a Las Vegas Contract. What I love about this show is that you can be any age and have any act. All types of weird, unusual, unique and one of kind performances are welcomed. I laugh and cry every year. Season one produced my favorite winner so far, Mr. Terry Fator. Terry is a ventriloquist, kick ass impressionist, and amazing singer. He is charming, a crowd pleaser and will blow you away. Last season we got to see the great Prince Poppycock. He didn't win the show but he won fans around the world with his one of kind singing and performances. To watch someone’s talent win them one million dollars watch AGT.

True Life

True Life airs on MTV. They don’t have a specific day and time so check your local listing.

I once was a huge fan of MTV, until thy stopped airing music videos and all shows became like “The Real World”.  Thank goodness that MTV decided to keep producing the one good show they have left;  Emmy Award Winning True Life. The first episode aired in 1998 and I’ve been watching ever since. It’s a dockumentary show that allows young people share their most intimate moments. The cameras follow them around and capture the good, the bad and the ugly. They tell us their stories in their own words and it’s very raw and real. They cover all types of stories from soliders coming home from war, getting a divorce, sex, embarrassing parents, dealing with substance abuse, homelessness, gambling problems, sickness and on and on. With episodes airing since 1998 there are hundreds of hours of really good reality television. To see the trials and tribulations of young men and women watch True Life.

E.T.

I love, love, love the lyrics to E.T.  Katy Perry found a different way to express falling in love. Not the same old tired lyrics. Then I saw the video and I approved. The video is like the song different and dark in a sexy way. That is why I go to you tube at least once a day to watch the video. To see that love comes in all forms, check out ET.

Warehouse 13

Warehouse 13 returns July 11 on the Syfy Channel Monday’s 9pm est. time. Check your local listings for reruns or go to the website and take the next couple of weeks to catch up before the new season begins.

Warehouse 13 is a Science Fiction show about two Secret Service agents played by Eddie Mc Clintocke (Pete) and Joanne Kelly (Myka). Pete and Myka travel the world finding lost artifacts or new artifacts that possess supernatural powers. My favorite part of the show is the artifacts. It’s as if they a character all on their own. They are capable of doing all types of bizarre and intriguing things. The artifacts are stored in super top secret government warehouse. The man in charge of the warehouse is played by Saul Rubinke (Artie). The storylines are unique and keep you guessing until the end. Many funny moments as well as tenured moments. Every week they save the world and we all continue to live a clueless existence. Ah how I love Sci Fi. To be transported to world unknown check out Warehouse 13.

Funny Commercials

I’m in love with my DVR. I would rather have a DVR than a cell phone. Most of everything I watch is on the DVR, therefore I do not get a chance to see many commercials. However I do also watch regular TV and I must say I’m impressed with how many funny commercials exist. Below are commercials that I don't get tired of watching.

Jerseylicious

Jerseylicious airs on My Style Sunday 8pm est. time. Check your local listings as they often air repeats. It’s a show about beauticians and makeup artist that work in New Jersey. All the drama that is typical of reality shows happens on this show.

Jerseylicious is not part of my show regiments. My niece is a faithful fan. I am not. I was channel surfing a few weeks ago and came across the last episode for the second season. One of the girl’s potential boyfriend was cute; I decided to watch to see how the relationship was going to evolve. It was unclear when the episode finished so I decided to DVR the reunion show. The reunion show brought me up to speed on the past seasons but never mentioned if they were a couple. So I decided to DVR the first episode of the new season. Again just wanted to see if it worked out, it didn’t, so I am moving on. This show was sort of a guilty pleasure viewing. I couldn’t believe how ridiculous and lame these people are. How can people act like they do?  I do applaud them for being themselves. It’s takes balls to go out looking like them and allowing the world to see how disrespectful, unprofessional and childish they are. My niece will undoubtedly update me without me asking. This show is a huge hit for My Style Channel. If you want to see what  New Jersey’s “best” beauticians and makeup artist have to offer watch Jerseylicious.

I Survived

I Survived airs on the Bio Channel Sunday’s 9pm est. time. Check your local listings as they often air repeats.

It’s a show about ordinary everyday people surviving unimaginable events, which will change their lives forever. These unfortunate people were kidnapped, raped, viciously attacked, stabbed, shot, car jacked, attacked by animals and more. Also people that survived the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. Like many of my non fiction crime shows, I become paranoid and afraid while and after watching this show. However the stories are hypnotizing. The survivors tell their stories and hearing what happened to them from their own mouth is chilling. They’re brave and strong. Their will to live won. To see how to prepare for the worst, whether from the hands of a human, animal or Mother Nature watch I Survived.

Fraggle Rock

Fraggle Rock airs on the Hub Channel weekdays at 8:30 am est. time. Check your local listing.

Fraggle Rock is a children’s puppet show created by the legendary Jim Henson. The Fraggles live in caves with a hole in one of them that let's to escape to the real world sometimes. Their 18 inches in height and come in all colors. The all have different personalities. They are adventurous, innocent and curious about everything. Just like the Muppets everyone has their favorite Fraggle, mine was Red. She is adorable and fun loving. Fraggle Rock aired from 1983 to 1987 on HBO. I used to love to watch it as a kid. Growing up not everyone could afford HBO, so I felt like I was one of the lucky kids that got to experience such a great show. You can learn a lot from watching them. Each episode dealt with real life issues and how to overcome them. Not only was the show a hit, so was the theme song. I was over the moon when I found out that Hub was going to air Fraggle Rock. It was nostalgic seeing the puppets after over twenty years of absence. Fraggle Rock is definitely worth watching no matter what age you are.

Adele

Adele is my newest music obsession. I first heard her song “Rolling in the Deep” sung by a contestant on the singing competition “The Voice”.  I went to YouTube to see who sang the song and was immediately hooked.  I’ve not been able to stop listening to that song. Of course I began to listen to her other songs and they are just as addicting. Her songs are a mix of soul, rock and pop.

Adele is a twenty three year old cutie from London. She is an original singer-songwriter and has already won two Grammy Awards. “Rolling in the Deep” is from her second album. Her first album is called 19 and her second album is called 21. The titles of her album's are the age she was when she recorded them. I adore her style and can’t get enough. To listen to some refreshing music that speaks to your soul check out Adele.

What Not to Wear

What Not to Wear airs on TLC Tuesday 9pm est. time. Check your local listings as they often air repeats.

The hosts of What Not to Wear are the fashion experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. They give unsuspecting women a makeover. These women are frumpy, stuck in certain year, slutty, dress like children and on and on. The catch is that they have to fly to NY and give up their whole wardrobe in exchange for a $5,000 Visa card to go shopping. Stacy and Clinton give excellent makeovers and are great in helping these women overcome whatever it was holding them back from being fabulous. Once the participant goes shopping they get a haircut from Ted Gibson and makeup from Carmindy. At the end of the show they go and reveal themselves to families and friends.

The only problem I have with this show is I don’t believe everyone should look the same. That would make for a boring world. People express themselves with their clothes and hair and just because it’s not what is considered normal doesn’t mean it’s not okay to wear. I enjoy watching because the makeovers are not only external but also internal. I also get lots of fashion ideas. To nominate someone you know or to give yourself a makeover watch What Not to Wear.

America's Most Wanted

America’s Most Wanted airs on Saturday 9pm est. time.

Unfortunately I found out today that after 23 years AMW was canceled. The last episode will air on June 18, 2011. They will return every three months for a two hour special. This has made me sad as I am a HUGE fan.  I’ve been watching AMW since it began to air in 1988. I remember when I was 13 years old and thought that my wood shop teacher was featured on AMW. Some of my classmates watched the episode and thought the same thing. It was like a comedy skit, us trying to figure out if we should turn him in or not. At that time they did not have the internet and we could not verify if it was him or not. We determined it was not him.

This is a show that really does make a difference. It allows the public to help law enforcements catch the bad guys. Also the heat of being featured on AMW sometimes leads the fugitive to turn themselves in. Every imaginable crime committed in the United States and International was featured. AMW viewers are responsible for capturing over 1,000 criminals. I’ve watched hundreds of hours of AMW and learned a lot.  I’m going to miss the weekly episodes but I will definitely DVR the specials. To help get the low lives off the streets or learn to beware of criminals watch AMW.
