Glamour Magazine

Tomorrow I am taking the train to New York and I will be reading my favorite magazine, Glamour. It’s the April edition with Kate Winslet on the cover. I love her. She is a great actress and seems approachable.  I’ve been saving it since I received it two weeks ago which was extremely hard for me. I love Glamour magazine and immediately give it a once over when I receive it. I have a magazine ritual

Look at last page first
Start at the beginning and absorb each page
Read small articles
Start at the beginning again
This time read all articles of interest
The End

For me to receive my favorite magazine and not even look at the last page is a biggie for me. I’ve been reading Glamour since my teenage years. It is very inexpensive and you get your moneys worth. Glamour feeds my fashion, current events, book reviews, music reviews, celebrity, medical, and world news appetite. This couch potato reporter is looking forward to taking her show on the road, kicking back on the train and reading my magazine. Until then pick up a Glamour magazine, you won’t be sorry.

Bait Car

Bait Car airs on Tru TV on Monday’s at 8pm est. time. Not this Monday as the NCAA tip off show is airing.

Bait Car is about an undercover car sting, where police officers wire a car with video and sound. They cause a ruse and leave the car running in a high crime area. Then they sit back and wait to see who will be dumb enough to jump in and drive off. You will be shocked to see the different kind of people who steal the cars; grandmas, crackheads, gansta's, even a mom and son duo. To hear them plotting, smiling while they drive away and then the cops turn off the car is fucking hilarious. These fucking morons go from smiling to frowning real quickly. They all claim innocence until they are told about the Bait Car sting. To watch these stupid ass criminals commit their crimes in front of police officers, who tape the whole mess is great realty TV.

Wild Case Files

Wild Case Files airs on National Geographic Channel Monday’s 9 pm est. time. Three stories are told in each episode.

Wild Case Files shows the freaking shit that animals can do. They show everything from giant spider webs covering trees, exploding toasts, fifty thousand dead flamingos, blind kangaroos, lions having seizures (that was sad) and on and on. They show interviews with scientist, witnesses and experts in every possible field. It’s so intriguing and disgusting. I like how they wrap each investigation in a nice bow by recapping the evidence and solving the mystery. If you love the animal kingdom as much as I do, give this show a watch.

The Sartorlist Blog

The Sartorlist is a fashion blog by Scott Schuman in New York. He takes pictures of people on the street in New York and around the world that he finds interesting. I read his blog once a week to check out the cool and funky outfits. If you’re looking for fashion inspirations check it out.

Disappeared

Disappeared is on the Investigative channel on Monday’s at 9:00pm est. time.  The show tells the story of people who disappeared.

They show interviews from family, friends, police and they create reenactments. These people are from all walks of life. Men, women and whole families disappear, poof, gone, vanished. What the fuck? What happened to these people? Where are they? Who took them? Did they leave on their own? The questions are endless. The show tells as many details but it’s never enough to solve the mystery. I am most in intrigued with the families that go missing. One person is scary enough but a whole family. How can a whole family go missing? That is frightening. I told my husband that I want a GPS installed inside my foot, so if I go missing he can find me. Dead or alive. When I watch this show I always think about Jaycee Lee Dugard who was kidnapped for eighteen years and had babies by her kidnapper. That shit still blows my mind. Eighteen motherfucking years she can not get back. Are any of these people being held against their will? This show is so good it pops into my head several times a week. Because somebody, somewhere knows something. People who do not have a reason to disappear usually do not.

I sympathize with the families and can't image the pain they are feeling. Some many question left unanswered and they may never be answered. I hope one day they can have an update show. I definitely recommend you watch this show. You may see someone who disappeared.

Harry's Law

"I think I became terminal in my late 40’s. Nothing the doctors could find, you couldn’t see it on an x-ray, but I was dying. Being put to death quietly, systemically, by routine. I finally died last year."  Harriet Korn, Harry's Law

Harry's Law is on NBC on Monday's at 10pm est. time. The above quote was the very first words I heard as I watched my first episode of Harry's Law. I am not in my 40's but I knew exactly what she meant and I was hooked immediately. I could not get enough and had to watch previous episodes and DVR all future episodes. The main character is the brilliant Oscar winner Kathy Bates who plays a fired patent attorney, who begins her own practice. Her office is in a shoe shop managed by her assistant, she has a young lawyer and previous drug addict as paralegal. Oh, the shoe shop is in the ghetto. The cast is superb and the acting is phenomenal. The show is created by Emmy award-winning writer/ producer David E. Kelley. So nothing but the best is produced. My co-worker suggested I watch and I am very happy I did.  It's definitely my favorite drama.

The above quote was the beginning of the show and the below quote was the ending.  I have never heard words from a television show that I wanted to quote, but these words rang of truth to me. For thought provoking good TV give it a view!!

"The thing about routine, when it kills you it doesn't have to be forever.  If you can just get rid of it and the hazy blur that goes with it. Life can come back. With all it's glory, its pain, oh how it can come back"  Harriet Korn, Harry's Law

Taking on Tyson

Taking on Tyson is on Animal Planet on Sunday 8pm est. time. The show is about former Champion Boxer Mike Tyson learning how to race pigeons. Tyson competes with other pigeon racers. The show gives you an insight into pigeon racing. Taking on Tyson shows you how well the pigeons are treated. The pigeon racers are committed and dedicated to the pigeons. The birds are dropped off up to 500 miles from their home and some how when they are released, they begin to fly home. Very exciting to watch their journey. This is definitely good realty TV.

BTW: I respect Peta's work but I disagree with them protesting Taking on Tyson. The pigeons are not mistreated. That does not mean there are not assholes who mistreat their pigeons. There is bad in all good things.

RuPaul's Drag Race

RuPaul's Drag Race is on the Logo channel on Monday's at 10pm est. time and this is the third season. I have to watch season one and two. It so entertaining. I forgot how much I enjoy watching Drag Queens until I came across RuPaul's Drag Race TV show.  Seeing the transformation from males to DQ's is amazing. Wow, wow, wow!!! The performances and challenges are over the top. The contestants are creative and catty. The prize is a combo of gifts and $75K.  Not bad.

I hope that RuPaul's Drag Race show will change peoples mind about transgender, drag queens and homosexuals.  Today in the mall we saw a man dressed as a woman.  He did not have full make up and he had a white goatee. He was with a woman who was dressed very similar. He had a short hot pink skirt, hot pink high heel shoes and over the top accessories.  I immediately got excited because I am all about people expressing themselves. People who are true to themselves, regardless of the consequences.  I said to my hubby "I love it" as they passed us.  I repeated it to the lady walking behind them as she made eye contact and I thought she thought they were cool also, but she rolled her eyes at them.  Ok, she is entitled to her opinion.  I kept it moving. On the way out the mall my hubby told me as I was trying clothes, the sales clerks were talking about the man dressed as a women and his female companion.  The clerk said that they are married and he dresses as a woman to honor his son as he passed away. They go to the mall four to five times a week and he is banned from some stores because his skirt is to short. She then said that he needs to honor his son in another manner because she doesn't want to see it and that she wouldn't want her kids to see it.  It pissed me off to hear such bullshit. Yes she is entitled to her opinion but that man dressing as a woman does not affect your bank account, household, job, lifestyle, car, kids, health, safety, etc  So why does it matter to some people??  Why??? I just don't understand why we can not be tolerable of each other.  You may see him for a few minutes, big fucking deal.  He will go about his business as shall you.

We saw the couple again as we waited for my milkshake and I wanted to talk to them.  Especially after what my hubby overheard.  I wanted to take their pics and put their story on blog along with this post but I did not want to impose.  Again I hope RuPaul's Drag Race changes at least one person’s negative thoughts about transgender, drag queens and homosexuals.

Investigation Shows

TGIF!!!  If I do not go out or to NYC, I am home catching up on my DVR, reading, or surfing the net. On Friday's I tape 20/20 and Dateline. 20/20 is on ABC at 10pm est. time. Dateline is on NBC 9pm to 11pm,  est. time and they also air on Sunday at 7pm est. time.If you enjoy investigation shows 20/20 and Dateline are the best. The twists and turns of the stories are unpredictable. I have been watching 20/20 since 1990 and Dateline since it first came aired in 1992.

I’ve learned how to be safe, cautious and paranoid.  One day I made of list of the shows that I watch in the investigation/true crime category....26!! Yeah obsessed.  As this blog gets older you will see a lot of reporting on investigative shows. They scare the bajeebeez out of me and but I can’t stop watching. I have a weird obsession with the way people murder each other. If these idiots and monsters would watch some TV they would know that they will get caught.  It frightens me to think I walk the same earth as these terrible people. The sickness and evilness is horrendous. After watching several hours of investigation/ true crime shows I have to relax the brain. I feel sad and my mind repeats the story over and over and over. So I watch cartoons to calm my mind. I have never stopped watching cartoons and they relax me. SpongeBob is my favorite cartoon. If I didn’t watch cartoons I probably would be too scared to leave my home.

Perez Hilton Blog

I read Perez Hilton’s blog everyday. For those who do not know Perez, he is known for blogging about celebrities. He went from being a naughty blogger to a nice blogger. He no longer bashes celebrity in a ruthless manner. He is more compassionate. To see him grow as a blogger and as person in the five years I have been following him is inspiring. He created two other blogs about cocoperez.com about fashion and fitperez.com about health. His blogs are straight to the point and very simple. He is a Latino and proud of it as am I. He is extremely successful and powerful. Not every blogger will have Perez Hilton's success but it is nice to dream.

Wednesday Night = Comedy Night

Wednesday is Modern Family, Cougar Town, Hot in Cleveland, and Retired at 35 night.

Modern Family and Cougar Town are on ABC at 9pm and 9:30pm est. Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35 are on TV Land at 10pm and 10:30pm est.

Modern Family is a mockumentary about three families. Ed O'Neil plays Jay the patririarch has a trophy wife Gloria played Sofia Vergara and she has a son.  Huge fans of both Ed and Sofia. Sofia was on a short lived series called Nights of Prosperity, which is when I became a fan. The other families are Jay's son and daughter. The son is gay and has a partner and an adopted daughter. The daughter is married and has three kids. The different family dynamics shows many different points of views. The writing is impeccable and funny.  It is my favorite comedy and worth watching. Tonight is a repeat. Bummer!

Cougar Town is about a woman played by Courtney Cox, her son, ex-husband, boyfriend, and best friends and how they get through life's problems. This is the best description I can come up with.  It is not on tonight.
The show started strong and now it's starting to flat line. I'm still watching because it's still more than 50% funny and I became a Busy Philipps fan. I'm hoping it will get funnier and the plots more interesting.

Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35 are new tonight. I also DVR these shows. Hot in Cleveland has a veteran all female cast.  Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves and the great Betty White.  Valerie, Wendie and Jane moved to Cleveland from Los Angeles and Betty White is the caretaker of the house.  Freaking hilarious.  The show has a lot of cameos by older actors. If you thirty five years old give or take a few years you will recognize these actors and appreciate seeing them on TV again. Betty White has the best lines as expected.

Then we got Retired at 35. A thirty five year old quits his stressful job in NY and moves to Florida with his parents. George Segal plays the father.  I have been a fan of George Segal since Just Shot Me. Aha....... just made the connection that Wendi Malick is on Hot in Cleveland, which comes on before Retired at 35. Also became a fan of Wendi Malick on Just Shoot Me. On Retired at 35 the characters and the plot are original. So therefore if the originality continues, I will continue to watch.

Have a laugh, watch a comedy!!

Top Shot

Tuesday is Top Shot night. It's on the History Channel at 10pm eastern time. Sixteen world class marksmen competing for a $100,000 prize. No bullshitting or forming stupid ass alliances, where the good guy always gets screwed. On Top Shot you just shut up and shoot. If you do not like guns, sorry this show is not for you. I love guns and I get very excited watching this show. Every week is a different challenge. They can shot from a zip line or while upside down. They don’t only shot guns; they use bow arrows, throw knives, and hatchets. It’s insane and I would classify this show as good realty TV. Check it out!!

Music Videos On Demand

For those who have Comcast cable and have on demand., you can watch music videos anytime.  It relaxes me to watch music videos, turn up my surround sound and sing at the top of my lungs. Very fucking relaxing. Is like having my own private music video library.  All different types of music.

If you don't have on demand service, you can always go online watch music videos.  I often use the internet.  But I rather watch videos on my television as I surf the internet and sing. Until later as I rock out!!!

Couch Potato Reporter

I’m a couch potato and an addict. My drug of choice is entertainment. I take them in all forms, television, books, magazines, internet, and blogs. I don’t plan to go to rehab as I am a happy addict. Below is a breakdown of my addiction:

Television: I watch varieties of program. Dramas, comedies, cartoons, food, documentary, animal, crime, investigative, sports, good realty TV, (yes there is a difference); the list goes on and on. I also watch movies that I get from Netflix via mail and the Wii. I watch a lot of TV because I love it and I pay for it.

Books:  The majority of books I read are fictional crime novels, entrepreneur and self help books. Hate love stories, I think they are all sappy and I don’t want to read about someone making love. I read books the old fashion print way. I have tried to read a book online and on an e-reader and I do not enjoy it. I like flipping pages and holding a book.

Magazines: Fashion, news, entrepreneur, and celebrity gossip. The same things I read on-line. And as I do with books I read magazines the old fashion print way and they are delivered in the mail. I love the shiny magazines.

Internet: My laptop is on and logged into the internet almost all of the time. I draw the line in the bedroom. I play games, watch movies, watch music vides, put on music on my MP3, read blogs. I read blogs about news, money, entrepreneur, fashion and celebrity gossip.

For several years my co-workers, (yes this couch potato is employed full time) have been telling me that I am in the wrong business and that I need to be in front of a camera. I keep them up to date all things current as I am full of random information. They also have suggested I blog. I think that is more realistic than being in front of a camera. So I created this blog and will be reporting all things wonderful in the world of entertainment from the comfort of my couch!!

The Couch Potato Reporter is born!!  Happy Birthday!!  May the festivities begin!!
