Happily Divorced premiered on TV Land tonight; Wednesday 10:30pm est. time.
Happily Divorced is loosely based on Fran Drescher’s real life. On the show her husband (John Michael Higgins) of 18 years confesses his gay. Wowzer what a kick to the gut. They handle the situation with class and comedy. For financial reasons they remain living together and we get to see how that plays out. Fran’s best friend is the sitcom veteran Tichina Arnold (Judi). Her parents are played by Robert Walden (Glen) and the talented Rita Moreno (Dori). Valente Rodriguez plays Fran’s employee Caesar, he is better known as George Lopez’s best friend on the George Lopez Show.
Which such a great cast, no one person stands out yet. The show is filled with one liners and Fran looking into the camera after saying them. It definitely made me laugh but most of the jokes were predictable and Fran’s expressions were a bit annoying. I will continue to watch as I’m interested to see how the characters evolve.
